Yankees making low offers to solidify bullpen late in free agency

The Yankees, currently focused on bullpen pieces, have talked to Hector Neris, Phil Maton, Ryan Brasier and Wandy Peralta. But they are alleged to be making low offers, perhaps due to the calendar or a supply-demand perception. As YES Jack Curry said, they could instead bring back Keynan Middleton instead. Hed cost less.

Though the Yankees made an offer for Blake Snell, part of their hesitation in extending what Snells camp considers a market bid seems to be the rough first year of Carlos Rodon, who got $162 million. Snells camp points out hes differentiated by winning two Cy Youngs, having no past Tommy John, more recent innings (486/ since 2020) and even better platform year.

Gerrit Cole and Aaron Judge recommended the signing of Snell early, but the sides are too far apart for recommendations to make a difference.

The Angels, Diamondbacks and Mets also are considering hitters. The Giants tried for Rhys Hoskins before he went to the Brewers, so perhaps they are, as well. The Rangers may, too, especially if their local TV issue gets resolved.

J.D. Martinez is the other DH at the top of that market. Justin Turner is still a good one, and Tommy Pham and Eddie Rosario provide solid options.

The Angels have emerged as one of a handful of teams interested in Joey Votto. Of course, it wouldnt surprise anyone if Votto ultimately went to the hometown Jays.

The Angels and Red Sox are considering Adam Duvall.
